Training Nets |
|
The Portage Amateur Radio Club operates 3 weekly training nets.
- Sunday at 8:30 PM the Portage Emergency Net
on the club repeater 145.39MHz
- Tuesday at 9:00 PM on 145.680 MHz Simplex
These nets are open to any amateur radio operator and they are encouraged to to participate by checking into one of these nets. These nets give amateurs the chance to improve their operating skills by checking into these nets to make comments or just to see how a net is run. It is also training for the net controllers on net operations.
The Portage Emergency Net is activated anytime there is severe weather or when some other emergency exists. This net is the primary Portage County Skywarn net. The simplex nets are used as backup in case of repeater failure.
All amateur operators are encouraged to check in to these nets. These nets are a good way to better your operating and communicating skills.
